Dilmunfast Deutsch Drahthaar
LITTERS
Our first litter was born on August 10, 2007. Ira whelped seven healthy puppies which included four males and three females.
The
Dilmunfast “A” litter matched Ira vom Moorehaus and
Hector vom Drosselbart. This is a line breeding of
the Drosselbart line that was started twenty years ago
by Dr Grady.
Hector is a wonderful example of a male Drahthaar. He is
strongly built, great coat, tremendous desire to produce
game and hits the water harder than any lab I’ve ever
seen. To top it all off, he is a perfect gentleman with
great disposition and obedience.
We expect this match to be soundly complimentary. Both parents have wonderful temperments and strongly exhibit a tremendous ability for "work after the shot", particularly in their ability for blood tracking.
Several of the pups enjoyed their first hunting seasons this year, being only a few months old. Most of my puppy buyers were first DD owners and they were astonished at the abilities of these young dogs.
So far the performance and drive of the puppys has been outstanding and we are anxiously awaiting the Spring VJP results. Six of the seven puppies will be tested and we are quite happy about the dedication and enthusiasm of our puppy owners. Without them, determining success or failures in any given litter would be nearly impossible.
The improvement in coat and body mass that we had hoped Hector would bring to Ira appears to be present. All the coats that I've seen are very good. All are very dense with none being too long or too short. All the pups have beards. If any improvement of coat remains to be needed, at this early stage, it is in the hardness.
The entire litter looks like little carbon copies of each other. There is a high degree of consistency in appearence. The structure of the pups as of now appears to be very good with no glaring faults. All the bits are correct with the exception of one.
Temperment seems to be as predicted without exception. No problems have been reported and everyone is pleasantly surprised at the affection these dogs have for all people.
